The annual Carnevale di Venezia is a two-week long festival in Italy, ending the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, also known as mardi Gras. For these two weeks masked figures roam the streets in fantastic costumes glittering with gold, jewels, and bright colors. The “Carnevale” horse is inspired by the masks of these figures, and features beautiful gold filigree, sparkling gems, and a aged texture reminiscent of Old World Venice.

As the sun set on South Dakota, a single Native pony wandered the plains in search of his people. This painted pony depicts that pony wandering aimlessly in the cold snow.
